Stick To Dogs and Cats

A report was just released warning that young children below the age of 5 are more likely to catch diseases from certain pets.  The article says to stay away from exotic animals of any kinds, such as turtles and hamsters (they don’t seem exotic do they? But they are…).  These types of animals are more likely to bite or snap at their owner than a dog or cat.

There are two main reasons why children below the age of 5 are more likely to get sick.  At this age, a child’s immune system is still forming, making it harder to fight off different diseases.  Younger children are also more likely to put their hands in their mouth after holding a pet.  This may be something you want to tell your families or remember when you have families of your own!!
